Setting up a [SPAM] filter in a Desktop Mail Program
A resource for tSpark Solutions hosting clients. Below are generic instructions for setting up filters in Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora, Apple Mail, Entourage, Netscape mail, or Goldmine. Every desktop mail program is different for setting up filters. Most programs call them "Filters", but some programs calls them "Rules". The best course of action is to search the help files for the program you are using. Below are the basic steps for setting up a filter/rule. IMPORTANT NOTE: Even if you use a desktop mail program, you can still set up your filter in tSpark Web mail. If you do this, the spam messages will be filtered BEFORE they are downloaded to your mail program. You will need to occasionally review your Junk folder in Web mail to check your spam for mis-categorized messages.
Your new messages with [SPAM] in the subject line will start showing up in the folder you created for spam. NOTE: These are very generic instructions. We recommend referring to your mail program's help files for assistance. Since there are so many programs, and the filter instructions are different for each version of each program, it is not possible to list specific instructions for all mail programs here. If you have tried setting up a filter and need help with a specific program, send an e-mail to support@tspark.com. |
